During the beginning of their third holiday season they received a phone call that totally re-directed their focus.Jenny Wilkins was on the line. She explained how her daughter Catie had received an Elf through the Ronald McDonald House the previous Christmas and how much she loved it. She went on to explain Catie had lost her battle to cancer and God had called her home earlier that year. She wanted to honor Catie's memory by donating Elves to Scottish Rites so other children could experience the joy that Catie's Elf brought her. After a few tears were exchanged "Elves from Catie" was launched. Lori, Renee and Jenny joined forces with Kristin Connor of CURE Childhood Cancer and became focuses on a "Tradition with a Mission."By the end of 2008, Santa's Elves were being hosted in over forty states, raising thousands of dollars for local schools, churches and charities. More importantly, over 1000 Elves have been donated to children's hospitals and thousands of dollars donated to CURE.
